Job Summary
Lead commissioning and retro-commissioning for MEP systems from design through construction while designing renewable energy systems like solar PV and battery storage. Perform energy modeling and analysis to guide design teams on HVAC, electrical, heat pumps, and geothermal solutions. Execute simulation workflows including climate analysis, occupant comfort criteria, and envelope optimization. Identify high-performance opportunities for new and existing buildings, ensuring compliance with codes, LEED, and regional programs. Clearly communicate findings through documentation and visualizations. Assist with planning studies and develop training tools to advance internal sustainability knowledge. Collaborate with project teams and internal practitioners to optimize energy performance and reduce costs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering or mechanical engineering
- 3+ years' experience in engineering, sustainable design, energy analysis, or commissioning
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Desired Qualifications
- PE license
- LEED AP credential
- ASHRAE credentials
- CABEC Certified Energy Analyst (CEA)
- Familiarity or experience with the new and existing building energy performance services such as commissioning & retro-commissioning
- Experience with digital building performance analysis tools such as OpenStudio, Trane Trace, eQuest, EnergyPlus, IES, DesignBuilder, TRNSYS, Climate Consultant, Ladybug and Honeybee for Grasshopper, DIVA for Rhino, COMFEN, WUFI, Therm, etc.
- Knowledgeable in building certification programs (LEED, LBC, WELL), building energy codes, and ASHRAE Standards such as 55, 62.1, 90.1 and 209
- Knowledge and experience with economic grants and incentive programs
- Working knowledge of architectural production software: AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-Up, Rhino and/or related software
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Show flexibility and adaptability to change within a fast-paced, team environment, often with tight deadline
