Building Operations Maintenance Assistant

Job Summary
Conduct day-to-day maintenance and repair of all venues and equipment in the Student Union Building, including minor painting, finishing, furniture assembly, and general handyman duties. Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and clearing beer lines while maintaining workshop areas and loading docks. Order supplies and safely utilize workshop tools and equipment in compliance with AMS standards, Food Safe Standards, and WHMIS regulations. Support the Maintenance Supervisor and Building Operations Duty Manager during building closing procedures, guiding the public and assisting with material loading. Work Monday to Thursday from 6:30 pm to midnight, 20 hours per week, at a rate of $23.00 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Required to speak, read and write English
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
- Demonstrated positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Physically fit to perform the duties of maintenance and repairs, such as the ability to lift up to 60kgs (132lbs)
- Intermediate computer skills
- Must be available for Monday to Thursday from 6:30 pm - 12:00 am (Midnight)
- Permanent, part-time, hourly employment status
- 20 hours per week
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in basic drywall, painting and other repair work is an asset
- Trades background as a building maintenance worker, handyman, cooling technician, carpenter or similar is an asset
- Trade certifications are an asset
