Job Summary
Conduct random and scheduled patrols of assigned school sites, facilities, and grounds to monitor activities and ensure compliance with school policies. Take intervening action to prevent or resolve disruptive incidents, notify law enforcement of criminal activity, and verify authorization for all facility access. Maintain close communication with administrators and the Principal regarding site safety, relay information on potential threats, and refer policy violations to designees. Produce written and/or oral incident reports on non-compliance, disruptive activity, damage, injury, weapons use, theft, drug abuse, assaults, or vandalism. Develop and maintain site security plans, coordinate with site administrators and security teams, and conduct investigations as directed. Maintain immediate availability for law enforcement response, attend required training, and serve on the Safe School Committee. Perform related duties such as assisting with student attendance and enforcing dress codes.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of the NAS Security Training Program
- Ability to hear two-way radio traffic and low volume sounds and noises
- Ability to lift or physically move objects or other persons during times of emergency
- Ability to pass a physical examination, which may include drug or alcohol screening
- Compliance to security and safety procedures, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with youth
- Work experience in security or in closely related fields
