Building Mechanic

Job Summary
Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, and building systems throughout Huntington Place, including large compression refrigeration installations and building automation controls. Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform emergency repairs on HVAC equipment, pumps, steam lines, and electrical infrastructure while conducting routine preventive maintenance. Respond promptly to service requests, assist with event setup for sound systems and stage equipment, and operate forklifts and electric carts. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and document all maintenance activities in operational logs. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support conventions and special events at the 16th largest convention center in the United States.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in building operations, maintenance, and repair of commercial mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to obtain Third Class Refrigeration Equipment Operator License within six (6) months of employment
- Valid driver's license
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as operational needs require
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Technical education, trade school, or equivalent building maintenance training
- Experience operating large central refrigeration systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining building, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Knowledge of building automation systems, maintenance equipment, tools, and applicable safety regulations
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Third Class Refrigeration Equipment Operator License
