Job Summary
Serve as the primary point of contact for building issues, requests, and questions while maintaining a positive, welcoming environment for staff, volunteers, partners, and event guests. Oversee daily facilities functions across kitchens, offices, warehouses, and fleet areas, conducting regular safety inspections to ensure compliance with fire, health, and building codes. Coordinate vendor relationships, manage service contracts, and direct janitorial, landscaping, and maintenance teams to address repairs and preventive needs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and EV systems. Lead reception and facilities staff, supervise after-hours emergency responses, and maintain accurate documentation for equipment condition and safety protocols. Support a flexible schedule to meet operational, event, and emergency needs within a four-day workweek framework.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in facilities management, operations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, safety regulations, and compliance standards
- Bilingual English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian, or African language skills
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general mechanical systems
- Strong customer service mindset with the ability to respond calmly and professionally to issues
- Experience handling security incidents, crowd control, and emergency building evacuations calmly
- Proficiency in scheduling shared community spaces and overseeing audiovisual (AV) systems for public speakers
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects, vendors, and priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in dynamic environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse populations
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort using digital systems, databases, and conferencing tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and reporting
- Reliable access to a vehicle
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screening in accordance with organizational policy
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours daily
- Routine capability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects up to 50 pounds independently
- Excellent visual and auditory acuity to monitor crowded public areas, spot building hazards, hear facility alarms, and actively diffuse tense situations in person
- Ability to move quickly between climate-controlled indoor offices, walk-in freezers and coolers, and outdoor areas
