Job Summary
Directs, plans, and coordinates the overall operation of the Maintenance Department in accordance with federal, state, and local laws governing long-term care facilities. Ensures high standards of safety by arranging fire and internal safety inspections, scheduling the facility's safety committee, and determining corrective actions for deficiencies. Manages facility maintenance by supervising corrective and preventative programs, planning work schedules, and evaluating long-term needs for major projects and property improvements. Oversees major equipment maintenance, develops equipment records, and recommends purchases for replacements or new equipment. Provides training for personnel and residents regarding safety and maintenance needs, while planning, coordinating, and providing oversight to construction employees and outside contractors.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate
- Knowledge and experience in all phases of building maintenance
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs, facility safety, equipment maintenance, and training
- Experience in estimating maintenance and repair costs
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations which govern the long-term care industry
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met, to include the use of maintenance equipment and supplies
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- May be required to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of fifty (50) pounds throughout the workday
