Job Summary
Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with city codes, then conduct field inspections to verify that work meets approved standards and regulations. Consult with property owners, contractors, and designers regarding code requirements throughout the construction process, issuing stop work orders for unpermitted activities when necessary. Prepare clear correction reports, inspection notes, and data records while maintaining punctual attendance during typical business hours. Drive locally to visit multiple work sites, utilizing construction software and interpreting technical documents to ensure balanced application of confidentiality and transparency.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible work experience in construction plan review and/or inspection of construction projects
- International Code Council (ICC) certification as a building plans examiner or building inspector
- A valid Washington State driver's license (or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire)
- at least two years of driving experience
- A history of and ability to maintain safe and responsible driving that meets the city's motor vehicle record minimum driving requirements
- Ability to pass position relevant pre-employment screening
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with construction software, such as Bluebeam preferred
