Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive site inspections and regulatory assessments across various construction stages to ensure compliance with Building Regulations, reviewing structural, architectural, and mechanical designs. Supervise inspection activities and enforce regulatory compliance by interpreting national and local building regulations, including fire safety and energy efficiency, while issuing formal notices on compliance breaches. Prepare detailed compliance documentation, including inspection reports and certificates, and provide consultancy advice to clients regarding Building Regulations. This role supports SOCOTEC's mission to build a safer, more sustainable world through diverse, challenging projects within the Building Control team.
Required Qualifications
- Hold membership of RICS, CABE or equivalent (or be qualified by suitable experience)
- Ensure CPD requirements are met to broaden and develop skills
- Demonstrate compliance through registration as an RBI at an appropriate level (3G/3H)
- Act as a Registered Building Inspector within your competency and registered class
- Supervise lower-class RBIs and graduate trainees
- Interpret and enforce national and local building regulations (including fire safety, energy efficiency, accessibility, and environmental requirements)
- Issue formal notices on compliance breaches under the Building Safety Act 2022
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
- Show ability to work independently as well as part of large project teams
- Analyse complex issues

- Keep up to date with changes in building codes, regulations, and industry best practices
