Building Engineer

Job Summary
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and building automation systems equipment. Conduct routine facility inspections to identify operational deficiencies and safely diagnose issues using instrumentation and blueprints to determine repair priorities. Complete assigned service requests, document maintenance activities, and support minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs as needed. Coordinate with vendors and communicate repair recommendations to management while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Requires City of Philadelphia Class A Building Operator License, Universal CFC Certification, and two years of related trade experience. On-site shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with no visa sponsorship.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or state equivalent
- Minimum of two years of related trade schooling or equivalent technical training
- Experience in building operations, facility maintenance, or a related engineering field
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, air compressors, and related mechanical equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and assembly instructions
- City of Philadelphia Class A Building Operator License
- Universal CFC Certification
- Membership in good standing with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 835 or eligibility to join
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
- On-site location in Philadelphia, PA
- Work shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience operating and maintaining building automation systems (BAS)
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and facility work order systems
- Familiarity with low-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment maintenance
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs within commercial facilities
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a facility operations environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities
- Strong communication and documentation skills for reporting operational issues and maintenance activities
