Building Engineer (Downtown Houston)

Job Summary
Conduct preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on building systems, vehicles, equipment, and grounds. Operate manual and power-driven tools to inspect fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing, and building automation for operational compliance. Provide concierge-style customer service to internal and external partners while ensuring adherence to all codes, regulations, and safety directives. Execute contract work including landscaping, snow removal, and cleaning. Interpret memos and present information to internal departments or large groups. Maintain a thorough understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in Commercial Building Operations, Property Management, or a related industry preferred
- Reliable transportation required
- Must have a thorough understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems
- Ability to read and understand plans and prints
- High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma required
- EPA Universal Certification required within 90 days of employment
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
- Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders
- Access remote work areas and confined spaces (i.e., crawl spaces, roofs)
- Use a full range of manual dexterity (i.e., sitting, squatting, bending, kneeling, walking, and lifting)
Desired Qualifications
- Prior work experience and knowledge of energy-saving and sustainability measures
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to efficiently present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
