Job Summary
Seasoned Building Engineer specializing in HVAC/R responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of industrial HVAC/R systems in a manufacturing environment. Manages chillers (centrifugal, screw, reciprocating), cooling towers, AHUs/RTUs/split systems/CRAC units, process cooling and refrigeration equipment, pumps and motors, ductwork, humidification/dehumidification, and related controls. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnostics of complex mechanical/electrical issues, operates and optimizes BMS/BAS to maintain environmental setpoints, identifies energy-efficiency opportunities, monitors indoor air quality, and ensures safety and compliance (LOTO, OSHA, EPA). Coordinates with external vendors, maintains CMMS records, reads blueprints/schematics, and supports root-cause analysis to improve reliability and uptime in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Required Qualifications
- Technical certification in HVAC/R, Facilities Maintenance, or a related field
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (preferred)
- Trade licenses (e.g., Boiler Operator, Electrical, Plumbing) (desirable)
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification (preferred)
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience as Building Engineer, HVAC Technician, or Industrial Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing/industrial environment
- Proficiency in HVAC/R principles and BMS/BAS systems (Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Trane)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Familiarity with CMMS software (Limble)
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Understanding of industrial safety practices and regulations (LOTO, confined spaces, hot work permits, fall protection)
- Ability to work in a production environment and coordinate with vendors/contractors
