Building Enclosure Engineer

Job Summary

Lead building enclosure analysis and design for rehabilitation, renewal, and new construction. Direct investigations into structural performance issues involving cladding, roofing, and glazing, while planning and executing air leakage, water penetration, and field performance verification tests. Conduct infrared thermography to identify thermal anomalies and perform hygrothermal analysis to inform durability-focused design decisions. Translate field findings and test results into clear reports, drawings, and specifications, and collaborate with Architects, BIM teams, and sustainability specialists to integrate envelope performance into whole-building solutions. Support projects from early planning through commissioning, including review of submittals, mock-ups, and construction-phase field reviews. Lead technical assignments and mentor junior engineers, acting as a trusted technical advisor to clients and contractors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural, or Building Science Engineering from an accredited program
  • 12+ years of experience in building enclosure engineering, restoration, rehabilitation, or existing building assessment
  • 5+ years in a leadership role within the building enclosure consulting services
  • Demonstrated experience with enclosure testing, thermography, and performance‐based analysis
  • Valid driver's licence
  • willingness to attend site visits
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
  • Certification as a Building Science Specialist (BSS) through the Building Science Association of Ontario and Building Science Specialist Board of Canada

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with energy or sustainability teams
  • Experience leading technical work and mentoring junior staff
  • Professional licensure in Quebec (OIQ)
  • Professional licensure in other Provinces and Territories
  • Credentials such as IIBEC, thermography training, or commissioning certifications
  • French language skills
  • Sound knowledge of Engineering business fundamentals
  • Proven team leadership skills
