Job Summary
Building Control Specialist responsibilities include operating multiple central computerized monitoring systems to ensure occupant comfort, energy policy compliance, and building security; dispatching watchpersons and other personnel; controlling after-hours access; testing and inspecting life safety and building systems; maintaining logs and preparing reports; and developing recommendations to improve safe and efficient building operations. Requires knowledge of central monitoring systems, Fire/Life Safety guidelines, and ability to coordinate emergency responses; certification as a Terminal Operator and a valid Class C Driver License are required. The role emphasizes staying calm under pressure, ability to follow standard operating procedures, and the ability to make independent judgments.
Required Qualifications
- Certification as a Terminal Operator
- Valid Class C Driver License
- Three (3) years of experience, training, and/or education in operating computerized heating, air conditioning, security, and related building control systems, one (1) year of which includes education, training, and/or experience in radio dispatch communications – OR – one (1) year of law enforcement/public safety experience requiring the use of radio telecommunications equipment – OR – one (1) year of work experience involving a high level of public contact, customer service, or customer relations activities which involves using a form of telecommunications equipment.
