Job Summary
Building Construction Instructor responsible for planning and delivering a comprehensive vocational training curriculum in building and construction. The role emphasizes instruction using vocational education strategies, development of lesson plans, adaptation of instructional techniques and media, collaboration with parents and administrators, ongoing professional development, maintaining a productive classroom environment, and adherence to district policies and equal opportunity employment. District salary scale; Clover School District inclusive of all required background checks and program advisory activities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma; college preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of work experience in carpentry, Industrial Technology Education, electricity, brick masonry, and plumbing carpentry
- Knowledge and skills sufficient to deliver a comprehensive vocational training curriculum
- Knowledge of instructional vocational strategies and how they can be employed to deliver curriculum and assess student learning
- Familiar with current technology and how it can be used as an educational tool
- Must be able to pass a Federal background check
- Plans instruction according to the strategies vocational education curriculum
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated using designated curriculum related to building and construction
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning by organizing time, space, materials, and equipment for instruction
- Prepares for students and classes assigned, incorporating the vocational curriculum, and shows written evidence of preparation (lesson plans) upon request of immediate supervisor
- Demonstrates an understanding of subject matter being taught while employing a variety of instructional techniques, methods, and media related to the objectives and consistent with the needs, and capabilities of the individual and groups involved
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings, in-service, and/or professional development when scheduled by Director and Central Office
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with parents, fellow co-workers, and administrators
- Enhances professional growth through participation in workshops, seminars, conferences, and advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning
- Displays pride and loyalty to self, school, and district
- Obtains and uses information about the needs and progress of individual learners and about the effectiveness of instruction to revise it, when necessary
- Refers learners with special problems to special population personnel
- Counsels students when problems arise and adjustments are needed
- Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials
- Helps students to develop positive self-concepts and encourages them to set and maintain high standards of classroom, bus, and cafeteria
- Works to maintain open lines of communication with students and parents on pupil's academic and behavioral problems issues
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings, PTO meetings, and professional development sessions
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities
- Performs any other duties assigned by the vocational director. Keep advisory council of program
- Activities and progress. Incorporates the instructional strategies into the teaching and learning process
- Uses subject area curriculum guide in teaching and in assessing desired learner outcomes
- Reviews/revises vocational curriculum annually for needed improvements reflecting changes in content, trends, and student achievement
