Job Summary
Manage a classroom of students by keeping them on task and engaged while assuming all duties and responsibilities of the absent teacher. Follow lesson plans left by the classroom teacher, supervise and ensure student safety during school hours, and maintain a positive learning environment. Leave feedback and notes for the regular teacher and assist with non-classroom duties when assigned. This full-time role at Watertown Public Schools requires an undergraduate degree and a Massachusetts Teaching License. Candidates with language skills or experience using Google Classroom are preferred. Assignments are in-person and subject to daily changes.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of an undergraduate college/university degree
- Must be able to effectively manage a classroom of students by keeping them on task and engaged
- Must assume all duties and responsibilities of the absent teacher
- Must follow lesson plans left by the classroom teacher
- Must supervise and ensure safety of students during classroom hours
- Must maintain a positive learning environment
- Must leave feedback and notes for the regular classroom teacher
- Must assist with non-classroom duties when assigned
Desired Qualifications
- Massachusetts Teaching License in assigned content and grade level, including SEI Endorsement if applicable
- Experience in a school or community setting working with children
- Candidates who speak another language
- Knowledge in utilizing technological tools such as iPads, Chromebooks as well as the Google Classroom platform
