Job Summary
Implement lesson plans and instructions as directed by the absent teacher or consult with the principal if a lesson plan is unavailable. Maintain a clean, respectful, and orderly classroom while supervising students inside and outside the classroom, ensuring their safety at all times. Leave daily reports for the regular teacher and communicate positively with parents, students, and administrators. Keep records on attendance, accidents, and incidents, and protect all student equipment and facilities. This role involves covering teacher and para absences and other supervisory duties as needed in the Memorial building. The substitute works a daily 1.0 FTE schedule starting August 24, 2026, reporting to the principal.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree
- Understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice
- Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Candidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues
- Candidates must be flexible and collaborative
- Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth
- Candidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing, time-sensitive deadlines for work production
- Strong record of work performance in current and previous roles
- Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (C.O.R.I.), Sexual Offender Record Check (S.O.R.I.), and fingerprints
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with children in a structured environment
- Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and PowerSchool
- Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese
