Job Summary
Maintain the beauty of Talladega College's historic buildings and grounds through general labor, minor repairs, painting, and renovation work. Operate and maintain lawn equipment, small tractors, chainsaws, and weed trimmers while performing daily trash removal and furniture moving. Provide lock and key service for the campus and assist with setups for college events, ceremonies, and programs. Requires heavy manual labor capability, proficiency with power tools, and a valid Alabama Driver's License.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform heavy manual laboring tasks for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to climb
- Ability to use tools and equipment including operation of power tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to frequently lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to read signs, labels, work schedules and simple instructions
- Ability to write simple messages in English
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions
- Ability to count, add and subtract small numbers
- Ability to operate and maintain lawn equipment
- Ability to make minor repairs to lawn equipment
- Ability to repair and operate small tractors, chainsaws and weed trimmers
- Ability to operate and maintain college vehicles
- Ability to provide assistance for setups pertaining to college events, ceremonies and programs
- Ability to provide lock and key service for the campus
- Ability to perform daily trash removal
- Ability to move furniture as required
- Ability to read tap measure
- Ability to demonstrate some knowledge of carpentry
- Valid Alabama Driver's License
