Job Summary
Senior Builder's Risk Underwriter/Assistant Vice President responsible for underwriting construction risk within the Builder’s Risk line, partnering with a transatlantic US/UK team to originate, evaluate and execute new business opportunities. Functions include underwriting within defined authority, analyzing catastrophe exposures, pricing, and maintaining broker and customer relationships. Requires strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, a keen underwriting discipline, and willingness to travel across the United States. Degree in BA/BS (engineering degree a plus) and a minimum of 5 years’ Builder’s Risk underwriting experience are required.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Builder’s Risk insurance
- Proficient in reviewing quotations and issuing policies
- Understanding of natural catastrophe peril modelling and pricing for multi-year construction policies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and across teams
- Willingness to travel domestically
- Ability to build and maintain broker/customer relationships
- Attention to detail and commitment to underwriting excellence
