Job Summary
Lay out, fabricate, assemble, and repair jigs, fixtures, forms, templates, and related tooling for aerospace manufacturing. Examine blueprints and MBD models to calculate dimensions and establish reference points using measuring instruments. Set up and operate machines such as lathes, Bridgeports, and grinders to cut, shape, and finish materials to specified dimensions. Fit, align, and assemble tooling components, measuring assemblies for conformance with precision instruments. Join components using bolts, pins, clamps, screws, or rivets, and repair or rework tools as needed. Draw sketches and prepare detailed instructions for other workers. Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures, Quality Management Systems, and export control regulations. Document actions and communicate irregularities to ensure continuity across shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- Certificate in Machine Tool Technology
- Equivalent work experience
Desired Qualifications
- String knowledge of GD&T
- Blueprint reading
- Ability to use, often own, personal industrial tools
- Experience with overhead cranes
