Job Summary
Budget Specialist responsible for preparing the annual budget, participating in grant proposal budgets, reforecasting, and ensuring the integrity of financial projections. Works with Grants Management to incorporate proposal budgets into the organizational budget, loads budgets into ERP, produces monthly statements and analysis, reviews expense contracts for feasibility, supports annual financial statement audits, and develops dashboards for reporting. Requires nonprofit budgeting and grants experience, proficiency with Excel, Office365, SharePoint, and Sage Intacct or similar budgeting/ERP tools, and strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Familiarity with federal and foundation funding arrangements, match requirements, and overhead limitations, plus ability to communicate financial concepts across levels of the organization and to collaborate across teams. Remote or hybrid work experience is preferred; travel not required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration required
- prior federal grant budgeting experience
- proficiency with Office365, SharePoint, Teams; advanced Excel
- strong financial analysis and organizational skills
- familiarity with federal & foundation funding arrangements and related items such as match requirements and overhead limitations
- experience with budgeting and ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct)
- remote or hybrid work environment experience
- strong written and verbal communication
- ability to translate financial concepts to non-finance staff
- ability to collaborate with multiple teams
- self-starter with initiative
