Job Summary
Oversee financial planning and agency-wide budgets, develop departmental forecasts, monitor spending to stay within approved budgets, and ensure compliance with government funders. Responsibilities include preparing Master worksheets and budgets for government portals, developing cost allocation and amortization methodologies, assisting with financial audits and annual compliance reports, preparing vouchers and invoices, and maintaining organized financial documentation. Requires strong GAAP knowledge, NYC government contracts experience, nonprofit accounting practices, advanced Excel, and ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- At least eight (8) years’ work experience in a related field
- Knowledge of GAAP – Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Direct experience with NYC government contracts financial reporting, vouchering
- Nonprofit experience – either government, nonprofit agency in NYC or NYS DHS preferred
- Knowledge of payroll concepts, regulations, processes, and terminology
- Experience building detailed line-item budgets for multiple departments and divisions
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Flexible work schedule and willingness to work weekends/evenings/holidays
- Discretion handling confidential information
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities with strong follow-up skills
- Excellent project management, time management and presentation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
