Job Summary
Oversee budget execution for NESDIS programs by preparing and reviewing annual budget requests to DOC, OMB, and Congress. Provide project management over funding execution, applying standard practices to track cost, schedule, and scope using Gantt charts, SmartSheets, and Excel. Review reports to monitor funds within NESDIS and collaborate with program offices on funding timing. Pull data from Enterprise Business Solution and FMDS to summarize commitment, obligation, and contract status reports. Forecast budget issues and implement corrective actions based on data analysis. This hybrid/remote role supports a federal government client in Silver Spring, MD.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5-7 years of experience in budget supporting a government agency
- U.S. citizenship
- ability to pass a government agency background check
- Experience with Oracle based financial systems
- Understanding of the federal budget process
- Ability to transform data and findings into concise, user-friendly spreadsheets and into PowerPoint presentations
- Excellent oral presentation skills with the ability to brief findings and materials to management
- Ability to communicate effectively in group meetings, knowing when to speak up versus deferring to management
- Work proactively to anticipate management's questions and meet their needs before being asked
- Sift through large amounts of data and reports to find answers to management's questions in a timely manner
- Strong interpersonal skills, including customer service skills, to properly manage customer expectations and respond to customer requests
- Knowing when to ask for help to be able to meet assigned deadlines
