BUDGET ANALYST

Budget Analyst for the City of Amarillo focusing on the preparation and administration of the Police Department’s budget and related financial reporting. Responsibilities include coordinating and publishing the annual Police Budget document (and related reports like ACFR and PAFR), reviewing and projecting operating, grant, capital, and special project budgets, presenting budget information to Mayor, Council, and the public, analyzing historical budgets and economic data to forecast needs, and providing recommendations to improve efficiency. Requires strong accounting/finance knowledge, municipal budgeting experience, proficiency with MS Office, and excellent communication and presentation skills. Opportunities to supervise interns or support staff; minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field with 3+ years of applicable experience; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
