Job Summary
Provide high-quality nursing care to hospitalized patients, including anesthesia-related duties and monitoring; assist veterinarians during examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures with proper restraint and patient monitoring. Perform laboratory diagnostics (urinalysis, hematology, fecals, cytology) and operate radiology and ultrasound systems. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments in compliance with applicable regulations, maintain controlled-substance logs, and support accurate medical recordkeeping and charge entry. Educate clients on preventative care, treatment plans, medications, products, and nutritional recommendations. Maintain sterile, organized treatment and surgical areas, monitor inventory, and assist with ordering supplies. Contribute to hospital operations and foster a positive, collaborative workplace culture in alignment with state practice acts and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Veterinary Technician
- Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring
- Venipuncture
- Laboratory procedures
- Radiology
- Dentistry
- CPR/Basic Life Support knowledge (implied by role)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle animals up to 130 pounds
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
