Job Summary
Veterinary Technician responsible for high-quality nursing care of hospitalized patients (IV catheter placement, CRI management, medication administration), assisting veterinarians during examinations, diagnostics, and surgeries; performing laboratory diagnostics (urinalysis, hematology, fecals, cytology); operating radiology and ultrasound equipment; administering medications and vaccines with DEA/OSHA compliance; maintaining controlled substance logs and medical records; providing client education on preventative care and treatments; maintaining sterile treatment/surgical areas and assisting with inventory and hospital operations; promoting professional, collaborative care across departments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Veterinary Technician
- Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, laboratory procedures, radiology, and dentistry
- Basic computer literacy, including practice management software and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and organizational skills with ability to work collaboratively in a team
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely handle animals up to 130 pounds
- Comfortable with physical tasks (standing, bending, kneeling) for extended periods
- Professional, neat appearance consistent with hospital standards
