Job Summary
BSN Nursing Instructor – OB Specialty for per diem engagement in Visalia, CA, partnering with Kaweah Health. Responsible for clinical site education, skill-lab and classroom instruction aligned with established curriculum, evaluating student performance against learning outcomes, maintaining accurate attendance and records, coordinating clinical assignments with facilities, using adult-learning teaching principles, and supporting program outcomes data collection. Willingness to employ online teaching enhancements, participate in program committees, attend faculty meetings, and provide accessible student contact via office hours or electronic means. Requires CA BRN license, eligibility as an Instructor in specified areas, Master’s degree (or current enrollment in a Master’s program for Clinical Teaching Assistant consideration), and RN clinical experience with a focus on OB and related specialties. Expectation to stay current with safety regulations and instructional technologies; duties may include days, evenings, weekends, or a combination depending on clinical rotations and skills labs. Compensation is $55-$70 per hour, DOE, with benefits for full-time employees where applicable; per diem implies flexible scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- Valid, unencumbered California RN license (California Board of Registered Nursing)
- Eligible for approval by CA BRN as Instructor for Medical-Surgical, OB, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Community Health, or Geriatrics
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university including coursework in nursing, education, or administration; academic preparation for the subject taught
- BSN and currently enrolled in a Master’s program may be considered for Clinical Teaching Assistant
- Minimum four years of RN direct patient care experience, with at least one year in the last five years; current clinical experience within last five years; competency as defined by CCR 1420(c)
- One year teaching experience in nursing-related courses or completed course with teaching practice (preferred)
- Expertise in Mental Health, Medical-Surgical, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, L&D, Community Health, and/or Critical Care
