Job Summary
Provide clinical site, skills lab, and simulation education to students enrolled at the assigned Workforce Development Program site in Medical-Surgical nursing. Plan and supervise student clinical experiences in assigned healthcare facilities, utilizing adult learning principles to instruct, observe, and evaluate performance against established curriculum and learning outcomes. Deliver feedback on clinical performance following observations, maintain accurate student records including attendance and skills check-off forms, and ensure clinical assignments meet both student and facility needs. Submit required program reports and forms to the Academic Site Director while participating in faculty meetings and committee activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid, unencumbered license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing
- Eligible for approval by CA BRN as Instructor for Medical-Surgical, OB, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Community Health, or Geriatrics
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing, education, or administration
- Minimum four-years' experience, with one year in the last five years, as a registered nurse providing direct patient care
- Clinical experience within the last five years
- Clinically competent as defined in CCR Section 1420(c)
- Expertise in one of the following areas of nursing – Mental Health, Medical-Surgical, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, L&D, Community Health, and/or Critical Care
Desired Qualifications
- BSN and currently enrolled in a Master's program may be considered for a Clinical Teaching Assistant
- One-year experience teaching courses related to nursing or completion of a course which includes practice in teaching nursing preferred
