Job Summary

Direct the total local Baptist Student Ministry on campus by developing and implementing strategies for evangelism, discipleship, missions, and church life engagement. Coordinate with local Baptist churches and collegiate leadership to provide a student ministry program appropriate to the campus situation. Administer the ministry budget in alignment with approved goals, prepare financial reports, and supervise direct reports including their professional growth and performance evaluations. Facilitate a ministry of care and encouragement to students, faculty, staff, and local church workers while maintaining compliance with all employee policies and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Active membership in a church supportive of the BGCT that is also a cooperating church within the Association and is supportive of local BSM ministry during employment.
  • Commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to traditional Baptist distinctives, denominational structure, and church programs.
  • In-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge, generally acquired through an earned master's degree from an accredited seminary.
  • Baptist Seminary preferred.
  • Ability to communicate the vision of BSM both locally and statewide on the association and local church level.
  • Excellent, professional written communication skills.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask, and manage a variety of tasks.
  • Excellent demonstrated leadership skills necessary to appropriately influence people to achieve a desired outcome.
  • Understanding of Scripture and theology and commitment to lifelong study and personal growth.
  • Strong evangelistic skills.
  • Proficiency in interpersonal and conversational skills for sharing the message of Jesus Christ at any time in an appropriate manner fitting of the person, situation, and time.
  • Recognizable word gift in speaking before a group or congregation.
  • Ability to travel to various geographic locations, including travel by car and some overnight stays, including weekends.
  • Requires proficient working knowledge and ability to use various software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Suite (Gmail, Gcal, Google Drive); intermediate-level skills required.
  • Speak, read, and write English.
  • Ability to speak clearly and make oneself understood in face-to-face interactions and to articulate with accuracy on the phone and through email.
  • Grasp, push, pull, carry, or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination, including: Ability to use up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
  • Ability to lift, transport/carry, and set up materials (up to 50 pounds) for up to three hours per week.
  • Ability to bend for items below or reach for items above the individual.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and climb step stools
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.

Desired Qualifications

  • Baptist Seminary preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write proficiently in Spanish is a plus.
