Job Summary
The Broom Operator is responsible for operating broom tractors and related machinery in a safe and efficient manner on various job sites. Key duties include controlling labor activities, communicating with crew members, providing clean-up services, and performing routine maintenance on equipment. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of related experience, knowledge of heavy equipment and safety protocols, and a valid driver's license. The role demands physical stamina, communication skills, and adherence to safety regulations, with potential overnight travel. Reliable attendance and the ability to work long hours in outdoor settings are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of one year of direct work related experience
- Working knowledge of heavy equipment, processes, and safety protocols
- Valid CDL (Class A, B or C) preferred
- Valid driver license and acceptable motor vehicle record
- Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations
- Ability to engage in heavy manual labor in various weather conditions
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent attendance record
- Ability to work irregular hours and travel as required
- Demonstrated skills in care and use of hand and power tools
- Reliable work ethic
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to operate varying types of machinery
- Must tolerate working environment with outside temperatures that include excessive heat, cold, wind, and precipitation
- Must be able to regularly wear personal protective equipment
