Brooklyn Call Intake Representative

Job Summary
Answer emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, hospitals, and nursing homes while accurately scheduling transports in Right CAD. Accept incoming calls from carriers, providers, customers, and patients; identify appropriate service levels, and maintain communication with dispatchers. Enter, update, and retrieve information from computer systems; process Allscripts paperwork and update patient demographics in the billing system. Log cancelled transports and notify supervisors. Maintain a positive work climate and communicate constructively with team members. Handle large volumes of calls and shifting priorities in a fast-paced office environment. Mandatory or voluntary overtime required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to accurately type 35 wpm
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in English
- Ability to concentrate and evaluate information when handling callers
- Ability to perform tasks efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet, exceed, or sustain established standards for productivity
- Flexible with shifting daily priorities
- Ability to gain an understanding of current organizational structure, policies, procedures, and practices
- Ability to handle large volume of work and or telephone calls
- Work in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation
- Convey a sense of competence and commitment
- Use initiative to learn new skills, enhance personal knowledge and improve communications
- Demonstrate the ability to work well with team members
- Communicate a willingness to help others succeed
- Share workspace and resources as necessary
- Mandatory and or voluntary overtime
- Occasional light lifting of paper files and office equipment (up to 15 pounds)
Desired Qualifications
- EMT or Paramedic experience
- Certification in Coding and Billing
- Understanding of medical terminology
- HIPAA requirements
- Understanding of Emergency Medical Services, Medical transportation services, or similar environment
