Job Summary
Execute scene management by setting up and taking down studio scenes, backdrops, and furniture for daily productions. Perform routine maintenance and repair on scenic elements and studio equipment. Assist with lighting operation, including hanging, focusing, and maintaining various lighting devices. Utilize hand and power tools safely for set construction and modification. Maintain proficiency with computers and email while adapting to new studio systems. Manage occasional travel between locations to deliver and pick up offsite materials. Work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment supporting 24/7 operations across live broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms. Join I.A.T.S.E Local 819 union.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years of recent, relevant experience as a stagehand, set technician, or similar role in a live broadcast, theatrical, or production environment
- Must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid local driver's license (DC, MD, VA)
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Physical dexterity required, including the ability to go up and down stairs, climb ladders, bend, squat/crouch, kneel, and twist
- Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays, and in the case of breaking news
- Candidate will also be required to join the I.A.T.S.E Local 819 union
