Job Summary
Install and terminate fiber optic cables, including aerial service drops, while performing splicing and testing using OTDRs and light sources. Respond to service orders and trouble tickets for new installations, upgrades, or changes to residential and commercial broadband services. Install ONTs, fiber jacks, terminals, and hardware associated with fiber broadband delivery. Maintain aerial fiber infrastructure, operate 4-wheelers and snowmobiles, and conduct general property upkeep including snow removal and equipment maintenance. Work on-call during nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions. Travel to job sites using small planes, boats, and ground vehicles.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able and willing to work on call during nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to perform other duties as assigned
- Must be willing and able to travel, as required, to job sites which may include the use of small planes, boats, 4-wheelers and snowmobiles
- Employee is required to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
- Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs
- Employee is required to frequently sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift, climb ladders and poles and work from heights
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with fiber optic installation, splicing, and troubleshooting preferred
- Familiarity with aerial cable installation and safety protocols preferred
- Ability to operate and maintain specialized equipment, including 4-wheelers and snowmobiles
- A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
