Job Summary
Psychiatric Social Worker provides mental health assessments and treatment services for youth in the justice system, including individual, group, and family counseling, within a multi-disciplinary team. The role aims to enhance community capacity to plan and care for challenging youth with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion, and may include up to two telework days per week subject to an approved agreement. The position requires a master’s-level degree in a relevant field, BC registration within six months for MSW candidates, and a valid BC driver’s license, with preference for candidates having more extensive experience in forensic or psychiatric settings and Indigenous applicants. An eligibility list may be established for future permanent vacancies.
Required Qualifications
- Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level in a similar subject
- Registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW) within 6 months of employment for MSW-prepared candidates
- Basic equivalency assessment via International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES) if degree obtained outside Canada
- Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience with children and youth and their families in community-based mental health services
- Valid class 5 BC Driver’s license without restriction (or equivalent from another province)
- Willingness/ proviso requirements as listed in job profile
- Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA)
