Job Summary
Timber Sales Manager in the BC Timber Sales Seaward-tlasta Business Area based in Port McNeill. Responsible for achieving business targets for the BA, fostering a healthy and safe work environment, providing leadership and oversight of strategic direction, forest stewardship from planning through to achieving free-to-grow status for harvested areas, and development/marketing of timber to the private sector while delivering net return to the crown. Requires leadership across multiple functions, strong program management, and expertise in policy, procurement, and financial management. Must hold a university degree in Forestry/Resource Management and a professional designation (RPF or RFT with FPBC); extensive forestry experience and senior management experience are required. CRC required; BC residency at time of hire; eligible for a future eligibility list for vacancies.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Forestry or Resource Management
- 5+ years of current forestry experience or more than 10 years of operational forestry experience
- Professional designation: Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC)
- Experience developing, managing and delivering resource management programs
- Significant management experience, preferably in a senior manager position including business and organizational planning
- Experience dealing with politically sensitive and provincially significant issues and with developing policy, procedures and corporate practices
- Demonstrated experience managing and leading large groups of employees in multi-functional areas
- Experience in strategic business planning, procurement and financial management
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and issues management experience
- Experience leading and coaching diverse teams
- Criminal Record Check (CRC) required
- Employees must be located in BC at time of employment
