Job Summary
Lead the prosecution of offences under the Criminal Code, provincial laws, and federal statutes from start to finish, making critical decisions on charges and guiding cases through court proceedings. Support witnesses, victims, and their families with care and respect throughout the process. This Crown Counsel Level 2 or 3 position requires membership in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia and significant trial experience. Travel is a requirement, and the role is based in Terrace, British Columbia. Flexible work options allow up to two days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Required Qualifications
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia, or immediate eligibility for call to the British Columbia Bar
- Crown Counsel Level 2: Counsel in their 6th to 11th year of call, with a minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as a practicing lawyer in Canada, including in the area of criminal law
- Crown Counsel Level 3: Counsel in their 12th year of call or greater, with a minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as a practicing lawyer in Canada, including in the area of criminal law
- Significant trial experience
- Travel is a requirement of this position
- A Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) and Enhanced Security Screening will be required
- Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience prosecuting Criminal Code of Canada offences or federal statutes prosecuted by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada
