Job Summary

Lead or support complex investigations into serious criminal or regulatory offenses within the BC Public Service Special Investigations Unit. Ensure work aligns with legislation, policy, and professional standards; uncover wrongdoing and support actions that remove bad actors; gather evidence through search warrants, Production Orders, and covert surveillance; collaborate with auditors, police, justice authorities, and medical professionals to safeguard public resources and health-care systems. Flexible work options may be available up to 5 telework days per week subject to approval; positions can be based in multiple BC locations.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in administrative law, investigation, enforcement, criminology, or a related field and 3 years related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Experience in investigative techniques, with a policing and/or commercial crime background
  • Experience with the Major Case File Management process
  • Experience in leading and organizing search warrants, sometimes involving multiple agencies
  • Experience completing court briefs, Search Warrants and Production Orders and securing evidence in accordance with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms
  • Experience with covert operations and surveillance methods
  • Valid B.C. driver’s licence or equivalent with the ability to obtain a B.C. Drivers license
  • Satisfactory background and security screening to qualify as a Special Provincial Constable
  • Preference for: 4+ years in investigative techniques; 4+ years with Major Case File Management; 4+ years leading multi-agency task forces; Indigenous applicants (First Nations, Métis, Inuit)
  • Willingness to work in locations with varied hazards; travel at night in remote areas; weekends and evenings; flexible schedule
