Job Summary
Probation Officer role in Prince Rupert, BC, supporting adults under community supervision with risk/needs assessments, collaborating with courts and partners, and upholding dignity, respect, and cultural awareness. Responsibilities include working independently and as part of a team, building connections with clients, the courts, and community partners, and complying with training and security requirements. The position may require overnight travel to remote locations and flexible telework up to one day per week, subject to an approved telework agreement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a Canadian designated educational institution; OR Completion of a two-year diploma and 3 years of full-time related experience; OR Sixty (60) credits of post-secondary education towards a diploma and 3 years of full-time related experience; English language proficiency if education is outside Canada; Successful completion of the Adult Probation Officer pre-requisite course (CORR1000); Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license (Class 7 may be considered); Ability to travel to remote locations; Ability to meet training requirements; Willing to work with adult clients with complex needs; Background checks (CRRA, RCMP fingerprint, provincial databases).
