Job Summary
Manage a diverse portfolio of Park Operator Agreements to ensure high-quality service delivery across front country, marine, and backcountry parks. Oversee facility operations, public safety, maintenance, revenue collection, and recreational programming through strategic contract oversight and relationship management. Negotiate terms and conditions, conduct contract inspections, monitor performance, and resolve disputes while upholding BC Parks' brand and service standards. This temporary appointment for approximately seven months is located in Dawson Creek or Fort St John. Flexible work options allow up to two days at home per week.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Resource Management or Natural Resource Management or related degree (e.g., geography, environmental studies)
- Three (3) years of directly related experience
- Two (2) years' park/recreation management experience
- One (1) year of natural resource management
- Degree in Business with focus on project and/or contract management in the Natural Resource Sector (e.g. business administration, public administration)
- Related experience in project and/or contract management including negotiating terms and conditions
- Two (2) year Technical Diploma in Natural Resource Management or Parks Management, or related diploma
- Five (5) years of directly related experience
- Two (2) years' park/recreation management
- One (1) year of natural resource management
- Experience and/or training in contract management, including negotiating terms and conditions
- Contract management experience includes procurement for services or assets
- Contract management experience includes contract inspection and monitoring
- Contract management experience includes direct financial negotiations
- Contract management experience includes contract agreement writing
- Contract management experience includes dispute resolution
- Park management experience includes development and maintenance of recreation facilities
- Park management experience includes operation of facilities
- Park management experience includes management of public and private sector recreation services
- Park management experience includes employee and public safety and security
- Natural Resource management experience includes wildlife or vegetation management programs
- Natural Resource management experience includes resource inventory and research
- Natural Resource management experience includes environmental impact assessment

- Natural Resource management experience includes non-conforming use management
- Natural Resource management experience includes First Nations agreements
- Must possess and maintain a Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence
- Must be able to travel, sometimes extensively both within and outside the region and in remote areas for multiple days, by vehicle, boat, air, or foot, in camp conditions and in all weather
- Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment
- A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required
