Job Summary
Lead bridge and structural projects across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic, serving as the primary point of contact for clients while managing expectations and building strong relationships. Coordinate technical resources, guide bridge/structural staff on design oversight, and develop comprehensive project, quality, schedule, and staffing plans. Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies while managing subconsultants and multidisciplinary teams. Communicate status, updates, and financial performance to leadership and prepare progress reports and presentations. Support staff development through mentorship and assist with business development activities including proposal support. Hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote (Wed/Fri). Requires a PE license (Virginia preferred) and 10+ years of bridge design experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 10+ years of bridge and structural design experience
- Demonstrated project management experience or clear progression into a PM role
- Strong client-facing communication and leadership skills (written and verbal)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (Virginia preferred; other state PE considered if able to obtain Virginia PE within a reasonable timeframe)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with VDOT and Virginia localities/agencies
- Experience with multiple delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3)
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams
- Prior experience working on complex or large-scale transportation infrastructure projects
