Job Summary
Bridge Engineer role leading and assisting in leading national-scale bridge projects within Hanson’s Infrastructure Market, performing complex calculations and design, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, preparing specifications, construction plans, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates, supporting proposals and fee development, with a focus on AASHTO LRFD bridge design, steel girder and prestressed concrete elements, AREMA railway design, and proficiency in structural analysis software. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering with structural coursework, PE registration, SE (or ability to obtain), and 5+ years of experience; Master’s degree preferred. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with structural coursework required
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration required
- Structural Engineer (SE) registration or ability to obtain one required; SE registration preferred
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (preferred)
- Approved Team Leader by IDOT for NBIS Bridge Inspections (preferred)
- Experience with DOT/INDOT bridge design practices and standards (preferred)
- Experience with structural analysis software such as Risa, Midas, LARSA, Leap Bridge Concrete, L-Pile, and AASHTOWare (required or strongly preferred)
- Experience leading or mentoring entry- and mid-level staff and technicians
- Ability to manage project scopes, budgets, and proposals
- Strong communication and stakeholder-relations skills
