Job Summary
Translate breeding objectives into actionable operational plans, design and execute breeding trials, select plant lines at key stages to advance genetics, maintain detailed records, assess material for advancement to R2/R3 stages, coordinate trial production and screening, transfer material to Seed Production per specifications, and support the adoption of new breeding technologies and methods. Strong knowledge of plant breeding principles, phytopathology, cultivation practices, data management, and communication skills in English (Spanish preferred). Occasional travel up to 20% domestically and internationally; requires a valid driver’s license and ability to work on-site in Myakka, Florida.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Horticulture/Plant Breeding or related field
- 3–5 years of relevant experience
- A valid driver’s license
- Must be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy
- Proficiency in Excel and Outlook
- Proficiency with computer breeding database programs, or ability to learn new systems
