Breastfeeding Peer Counselor

Job Summary
Provide basic breastfeeding information, benefits, and positioning to pregnant and breastfeeding participants while maintaining ongoing contact to encourage initiation and address common barriers. Support new mothers by preventing and addressing breastfeeding concerns, issuing breast pumps with instruction, and assisting with or leading classes and support groups. Promote the program through community outreach, attending events to increase awareness, and yielding care to nutritionists, dietitians, or certified lactation counselors per scope of practice. Requires personal breastfeeding experience, high school diploma, and WIC participation; offers sign-on bonus, 403(b), PTO, and paid parental leave. Monday–Thursday schedule, 20 hours weekly.
Required Qualifications
- Personal experience of breastfeeding at least one baby
- High school diploma or GED
Desired Qualifications
- WIC participation (current or previous)
