Breast Imaging Support Specialist

Job Summary
Conduct screening exams for breast cancer detection and lesions while ensuring optimal scanning based on ultrasound system protocols. Prepare patients for mammographic and ultrasound procedures, explain techniques to reduce anxiety, and maintain equipment in proper working order following safety standards. Manage image movement to offsite radiologists, process routine paperwork, and perform mammography tracking per MQSA guidelines. Coordinate administrative support functions including researching patient information, compiling data, and preparing reports to ensure eligible patients receive annual screenings. Maintain patient confidentiality and participate in professional development activities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-4 years of practical experience
- Very strong computer skills (Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Ability to perform responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy with minimal supervision
- Must be able to maintain a friendly and professional demeanor at all times
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be able to assist practice in all ways possible to be sure all eligible age-appropriate patients have annual screening mammograms and ultrasounds
- Must be able to prepare patients for the mammographic/U/S procedure
- Must be able to explain procedures to the patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation
- Must be able to move ultrasound equipment to specific positions and adjust controls to ensure optimal scanning based on knowledge of the ultrasound system techniques and protocols
- Must be able to follow prescribed safety standards in operating all required equipment
- Must be able to examine images for image quality
- Must be able to ensure equipment is in proper working order at all times
- Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Must be able to process routine paperwork and all required data entry
- Must be able to participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations
- Must be able to maintain image movement and management to the offsite radiologist
- Must be able to perform mammography tracking with the mammographer following MQSA guidelines and requirements
- Must be able to research patient information, compile data, preparing reports, obtaining prior patient images, and patient compliance
- Must be able to have coverage responsibilities for multiple locations
- Must be able to perform all other duties as may be assigned
- Must be able to work Mon - Fri
Desired Qualifications
- College degree preferred
- Experience with electronic Medical Record systems (EMR) preferred
