Job Summary

Report and write breaking news and enterprise stories on DC politics, government actions, legislative battles, and policy shifts. Spot trending news from interviews, speeches, and social media, then land interviews with power brokers to break exclusive stories. Build and maintain a strong network of sources from lawmakers to campaign officials, using public records and FOIA requests to verify copy. File timely, accurate reporting under tight deadlines while working Sunday through Thursday with flexibility for evenings and irregular hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of newsroom reporting experience
  • Experience with a focus on DC or political coverage
  • Experience writing about the White House and Congress
  • Experience building sources within the Trump administration
  • Fast, accurate and efficient, high-impact reporting
  • Strong editorial judgment
  • Writing skills under tight deadlines
  • Available to work Sunday to Thursday
  • Flexibility to work evenings and irregular hours as news demands
  • Ability to report into the Washington, DC Bureau
