Job Summary
Inspect, measure, or test completed metal workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using testing devices. Set up, operate, or tend to machines that join or bond components to fabricate metal products or assemblies, ensuring proper machine setup, programming, tooling, and parts are machined according to manufacturing standards and customer specifications. Correct problems by adjusting controls or stopping machines as needed. Attach tips to metal bodies, verify secure bonds before parts leave the department, and provide general preventative maintenance to all machines. Requires high school diploma, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and prolonged standing with bending. GWS Tool Group specializes in custom cutting tools and is part of the Sandvik Group.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Basic mathematical skills including geometry and math conversions
- Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail
- Great verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- General cutting tool technical applications knowledge
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stoop, bend or kneel when required
Desired Qualifications
- Vocational school or apprenticeship
- Experience with soldering or welding
