Job Summary
Branch Mortgage Loan Officer role focused on cultivating member relationships and sourcing mortgage opportunities across multiple branches. Responsible for end-to-end mortgage applications from initial consultation to closing, collaborating with branch staff, processors, and underwriters, and maintaining an organized pipeline. Requires expert knowledge of mortgage products (Conventional, FHA, VA, HELOC, Home Improvement), compliance with relevant lending rules, and the ability to present solutions tailored to member needs. Proficiency with Velocify, Encompass, Excel, and other tools, plus NMLS Texas licensure, are expected. This hybrid position offers an hourly rate plus commission and emphasizes relationship-building, lead generation, and timely processing across a Texas-based credit union network.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required; college preferred
- 5-7 years in Banking/Financial industry
- 3-4 years in independent Mortgage environment as an originator
- Licensed in NMLS and through the State of Texas as a Mortgage Loan Originator
- Proficiency in Velocify, Excel, Encompass, TalkDesk, Polly, Blend, Microsoft Teams
- Knowledge of HMDA; Escrow analysis a plus
- Ability to balance analytical qualification with sales to match borrower needs
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of real estate processing laws and FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA guidelines
- Attention to detail and time management
