Job Summary
Manage branch operations by supervising staff, overseeing budgets, and maintaining the physical plant while serving as the primary liaison to the community and local organizations. Forecast department requirements, monitor expenditures, and coordinate library activities and programming to meet organizational goals. Direct daily activities, resolve customer complaints, and lead committees as part of the Library's Management Team, alternating with other managers for Main Library coverage. Attend conferences to stay informed on industry trends and implement policies that improve unit performance. Travel locally and occasionally overnight to support branch functions.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science
- Pre-employment drug screening
- Criminal background and education verification checks
- Ability to travel locally to library branches
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Ability to carry 25 pounds
- Ability to push 25 pounds
- Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
- Frequent local travel by library vehicle/personal automobile
- Occasional overnight travel
Desired Qualifications
- OLC certification
- 5 or more years of relevant experience
- 2 or more years of experience supervising
