Job Summary
Provide clerical support for the branch medical records and billing department by preparing patient assessment packets, processing signed and unsigned orders, and managing accounts payable. Coordinate telephone and personnel communication systems, maintain accurate employee phone rosters, and process incoming and outgoing mail while ordering office and medical supplies. Date stamp received documents for scanning and fax discharge summaries and case conference details to physicians. Complete end-of-period claim workflows and assist with EOE billing tasks. Adhere to HIPAA and privacy programs while communicating professionally with referral sources, patients, and family members.
Required Qualifications
- Must understand the issues related to the delivery of home health and hospice services
- Must be able to problem solve effectively
- Must possess knowledge of Medicare guidelines governing home health and hospice agencies
- Must have exceptional customer service skills
- Must be able to communicate well with referral sources, patients, family members, and agency employees
- Must be organized
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must possess effective communication skills both orally and in writing
- The ability to communicate with a diversity of individuals is required
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have typing skills
- Must have clerical skills
- Must be competent with computers
- Must possess a minimum of two years' experience in the health care industry
- Must possess one year experience in home health
Desired Qualifications
- Six months medical records experience in a clinic, hospital, or home health setting (preferred)
