Job Summary
Brake Press Operator responsible for setting up and operating brake press machines to bend and form metal according to work orders and specifications in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key duties include reading blueprints and work orders, inspecting materials and finished parts with hand tools, recording production and quality data, communicating with supervisors regarding changes, safely operating material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes), assisting with packaging and staging of finished materials, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety policies, basic math and measurement skills, and the ability to work on the production floor around heavy machinery. Collaboration with production staff and potential training of teammates are expected as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of experience operating brake press or similar metal fabrication equipment
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to read work orders, blueprints, and measuring instruments
- Proficiency with hand measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work on the production floor around heavy machinery
