Job Summary
Accept and follow priorities assigned by the Brake Lead to run out proven set-ups, make tooling and controller changes, and maintain tolerance on specific dimensions. Set up most jobs with little to no assistance while using dial calipers, squares, protractors, and height gauges to ensure dimensional conformance. Complete Vander-Bend Manufacturing Set-Up sheets for every job and assist entry-level operators with setup and measuring issues when directed. Exercise proper judgment by referring all print or set-up deviation decisions to the Brake Lead or Supervisor. Work swing shifts Monday through Thursday from 1:10 pm to 11:40 pm.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years as a Brake Operator
- 2 years related of other shop experience
- Ability to read and write and understand written documents
- Must visually know the difference between metals, such as aluminum and steel
- Must know how to use dial calipers, squares, protractor and most any other measuring tool
- Must know how to use a calculator
- Basic math skills, such as addition subtraction, multiplication and division
- Some trigonometry
- Use of 'k' factors
- Know how to figure a 'k' factor
- Use of shop math to perform simple to complex part 'back-checks'
- Good layout skills for forming as it pertains to form direction, angles and setting up
- Must know third angle projection as it pertains to print interpretation
- Understand print call outs, notes and some geometric tolerances
- Good counting skills
- Keep accurate counts
- Some computer skills
- Know the Amada 9-EX controller very well
- Know, understand and practice the Vander-Bend First Piece Inspection Process
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force constantly
